Profile Information

musical interest/favorite musician
My main instrument is probably the melodeon (a diatonic button accordion I mainly use for playing traditional folk music) which I tend to use through live electronics. In the past I have used toys, samplers and amplified objects. I have recorded with the group "Ticklish" (w/ Phil Durrant, Kev Hopper and Rob Flint) and "Minnow" (w/ Kelsey Michael, John Telfer, John Edwards, Mark Sanders, Gail Brand and Liam Noble) as well as in a duos with Steve Beresford and Mark Spybey.

I am interested in live electronics within non-idiomatic free improvisation, but I also play squeezebox in a ceilidh band, and electric guitar and voice in a post-punk band.

I have a blog - http://bagrec.blogspot.com/

"Bagrec" is a pseudonym I use to avoid confusion with a popular singer/songwriter who shares my name!

Love the melodeon piece I'm hearing now... great acoustic tones and simply beautiful in its sparsity. Great to meet you up in here.

Linear Obsessional - New Release - Sam Fendrich "Etude Brutus"

Dear IF friends-

For the second release on Linear Obsessional I'm very proud to present a work by the London based composer Sam Fendrich  (b. 1947, Novosibirsk, Siberia). "Etude Brutus" is a composition for computer driven piano.

"Etude Brutus" is not minimal in any sense except that of instrumentation - it is an epic solo piano work (over 75 minutes in length - in 11 movements) of exceptional energy and powerful…
