Movie soundtracks have long interested Eno; early in his solo career, he released an album called Music for Film. He calls the pieces on his new CD, Small Craft on a Milk Sea, "the mirror-image of silent movies — sound-only movies."As if he were speaking about a certain IF aesthetics... :)from hereand one more:"The micro-compositions are the pieces…See More

Music is an emotional art. You can't deny that.

What is buried in the word emotion? Motion. Movement. Sound moves. It's changing. It's an emotional art. A lot to agree and a lot to disagree with in what Dillon says in this interview. And a lot mystification of course - without that one wouldn't be able to work as a composer.Whatever you do is a rich mixture of calculation and mystery.See More

Ed Lawes about brevity in non-tonal music

I quote his blog entry in its entirety. (Not sure yet if I agree or not - or only partly...)If Shakespeare were alive today, he'd agree with me.I've said it many times before (at a party last night for instance, fascinating company me) but now it's official.Thereare exceptions that prove the rule of course (prove as in testobviously, prove as in confirm would be a bit mental) but generallyspeaking non-tonal music is…See More

Pop Music in Bad Times

Americans are so obsessed with escapism that they can’t even createart that resembles reality, that they’ve become so mentally derangedfrom years and years of hopes and dreams andlife-is-great-everyone-can-be-a-millionaire indoctrination that they’reunable to produce art that gives meaning to their own lives. We all know someone who’s been laid off, had their home foreclosed, lost money in the stock market, or had their 401k destroyed. Few of us have health care. And many of us are graduating…See More

Big Words - Ana Mendieta (1996)

I'm quoting:The question of integrity in aesthetics is rather a mind boggling question for me, because I am an artist who feels that art is first of all a matter of vocation. Now vocation is a limiting factor, which extends even to the kind of art an artist is able to make. In other words, I believe an artist is limited to what he or she can give life to. I make the art I make because it's the only kind I can make. I have no choice. The Spanish philosopher Ortega y Gasset said: "To be a hero,…See More

This is a mix of (nearly) all of the files from 12-14 Aug. 2010. Maybe later I'll describe how I did it...Three-part form: middle section starts around 4:15 (with the signal from Paul Muller's trumpet) and lasts until 8:20.Adam KondorGrisaillepic 1…See More

Kondor IF titles Oct 2010.pdf

I'm thinking about some kind of collaboration with a video-artist who would create a movie stream and it could be presented together with the whole playlist as a 12 hour event.
Of course there is the problem of copyright in all the mixes. As I understand the rules here it was free to use them in the context of IF but the story will change if some income starts to trickle. At the moment it is just theoretical but let's talk about it before it's too late!...
